New tires on the BMW S1000XR

New tires on the BMW S1000XR

New tires came in today. A set of Continental Road Attack 3. We’ll see how they do. Have heard a lot of good things about this tire.
So todays task was to replace the OEM tires on my precious superbike.

Shoes are off.

Lets get some elbow grease and get this done. Putting tires on the rims is really not that hard. Lots of lube and patience. The worst part is breaking the bead on the old tire. This one went on without issues.

All done. The old original OEM’s lasted 6300 miles. Not too bad, considering what kind ow bike this is, a very high performance bike with a close to 170 hp superbike engine.

Great Smokey Mountains

Great Smokey Mountains

Had to get away for a few days and took my BMW S1000XR up to the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. Stayed at Cades Cove campground for 3 nights. For the first time in about 30 years, I got on a bicycle and rode the entire length of the Cades Cove Loop.
Rented the bike from the campground. Lots of fun. Somewhat unsteady the first few minutes 🙂

2019 BMW 1250 Boxer Engine

Brand new video featuring the 2019 BMW 1250 Boxer Engine, The new boxer engine will feature variable valve timing to increase the power and torque. Although the best-selling big adventure motorcycle on the market, the big GS is facing a tough competition by KTM and Ducati, who come up with 160 hp, while the R1200GS features only 125. Most GS owners say that 125 hp and 125 NM of torque is enough for an adventure motorcycle, but there’s serious pressure from the competition.

New bike addition

Finally after a long wait I picked a 2018 BMW S1000XR up at Charlotte BMW. What a beast of a bike this is. Insane power, incredible technology and second to none handling.  Amazing machine.
