Stayed at New River State Park, NC recently. This is a small campground with only 19 sites tucked close to the VA border, with the New River, a north-flowing river, close to the park. Very quiet, very clean. Some sites do not have sewer, and none of the sites have water, so fill your fresh water tank before you arrive. The dump station has a potable water station you can use to fill the fresh tank with.
We hopped on the ebikes, and headed down to New River, which flows by the campground. I haven’t seen clearer water in a long time. No trout in this section of the river tough, so no fly fishing opportunities here. Other parts of New River have stocked trout though.
Plenty of trails close to the campground as well, so we strapped hiking shoes on, and got with it. All trails were marked good, so no chance getting lost. I highly recommend this campground.
