Headed Westward Day 1

Riding 200 miles in rain is not exactly my preference, but long as my Aerostich keeps me dry, I don’t mind. Rain all through Charlotte, NC west on 74 / 9 up to Lake Lure / Chimney Rock. Continued raining up through the twisty 74 into Asheville. Used to live in the area for a few years. It has changed a lot. From Asheville up through US 25 into Hot Springs, where I planned to pitch for the night.

“How much do you charge for a bike and a stamp of a tent?” I asked the host. “We’re full. Beer festival. Sorry”.  With that I geared back up and headed towards Newport, TN, where I found a nice, secluded campground. “How much do you charge”? “30 bucks”. “I’ll give you 20 and I’ll stay”. “Deal”, she said.

A good day, except for the rain. Nothing serious, just steady drizzle.
