Staying at Oconee Point at Lake Hartwell in South Carolina.<\/p>\n

Lake Hartwell is a massive 56,000-acre man-made reservoir spanning the border between Georgia and South Carolina. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)<\/a><\/span>, it is one of the southeastern United States’ most popular recreational destinations, boasting 962 miles of scenic shoreline.<\/p>\n

Most of the campsites are right on the water, Making it a prime camping destination. Most sites have Electric 30\/50 Amp and water. There is no sewer at the camp sites. There is a dumping station on the way out of the campground though. <\/p>\n

Right now, the lake is about 7 feet low, so there is currently a lot of red clay exposed above the waterline. This drop is due to an ongoing extreme drought impacting Upstate South Carolina and Georgia, leaving a roughly 30-inch rainfall deficit in the upper Savannah River drainage basin.<\/p>\n
