Honda ST1300's:
We are both riding on 2005 Honda ST1300 touring bikes. They are actually sport-touring bikes, but lean more toward touring than sport. The ST1300 was first introduced in 2002 (Europe) and 2003 (US) as an upgrade from the ST1100, also a true work horse. The fuel range is one of the highest of any touring bikes out there, with a range of between 260-280 miles. It is quite heavy at about 720 pounds full of gas. Touring ready I would guess it weights about 800 pounds. Once you start moving, it don't feel like it is that heavy though. It's V4 engine is extremely smooth without any vibration. Very dependable bikes.

BMW F650GS / F800GS:
We decided to pull the trigger on two BMW Adventure / Dual Sport bikes. BMW introduced these bikes in 2007. The F 650 GS differs from the 800GS by featuring a lower seat height, lower weight and slightly reduced engine power. Compared with its single-cylinder predecessor, the new F 650 GS is an improvement in every area. Despite its designation, which usually refers to the engine size, the F 650 GS has the same 800cc twin-cylinder engine as the F 800 GS.
With slightly reduced engine power (71 instead of 85HP) the focus for the F 650 GS is on high torque at lower engine speeds coupled with excellent economy.
The F800GS chassis combines all the features of a true enduro: a sturdy steel-tube frame that allows a steering lock of 42 degrees; a rigid upside-down forks with 230mm spring travel; a sturdy aluminium double-strut swing arm with a path-dependent cushioned spring strut and 215mm spring travel; and solid wire-spoke wheels.
